A communications and relationships business set up by a former head of communications for the Government and a senior journalist has appointed two new associates.
BakerBaird, run by Richard Baker and Stuart Baird, moved into new premises during the summer, taking space in Accelerate Places Nottingham, the co-working hub launched by the leading venture builder Blenheim Chalcot.
Now, BakerBaird has expanded its team to support an expanding workload among new and existing clients by bringing in two associates wo have in-depth media and communications experience.
Charles Walker, former deputy editor of the Nottingham Post and editor of Lincolnshire Echo, and Gail Downey, an experienced ex-BBC journalist and trainer, have joined the team alongside owners Richard and Stuart, and former head of communications for Heart Research UK, Chris Child.
Charles has worked in public relations roles for HM Government, managing media relations for the census in England and Wales, and for the aid agency, Oxfam, acting as a spokesman in various conflicts and humanitarian crises internationally.
Gail is a former BBC journalist who has a track record of delivering media courses through Capita to staff in government departments from DWP to the Highways Agency. She has run her own publicity campaigns and courses for both the public and private sector teaching delegates media awareness and story identification.
